Introduction
The RG11 cable is a robust, low-loss coaxial cable intended for long-distance signal transmission with little attenuation. Compared to thinner coaxial cables such as RG6 and RG59, RG11 provides superior shielding, lower signal loss, and improved performance over long cable runs, making it excellent for antenna systems, CATV, satellite, broadband, and RF communication applications.
Outdoor antennas, base stations, CCTV backbone lines, and RF distribution networks all use RG11 because of its strong construction and outstanding electrical properties.
What is RG11 Cable ?
RG11 is a 75 ohm coaxial cable with a bigger conductor diameter and thicker dielectric insulation. This design greatly decreases signal attenuation, particularly at higher frequencies and over long distances.
RG11 cables are typically terminated with F-type, N-type, or BNC connectors, depending on the application.
Types of RG11 Cables :
1. RG11/U Coaxial Cable
- Standard RG11 version.
- Solid copper or copper-clad steel conductors
- Suitable for CATV, antennas, and broadband distribution.
2. RG-11 Quad Shield Cable
- Four layers of shielding (foil and braid).
- Maximum EMI/RFI protection.
- Ideal for noisy industrial areas.
3. RG11 Flooded/Direct Burial Cable
- Gel-filled or water-resistant construction
- Suitable for both underground and outdoor installations.
4. RG 11 Plenum-Rated Cable
- Fire-resistant jacket (CMP).
- Used in commercial buildings and air-handling areas.
5. RG 11 Outdoor UV-Resistant Cable
- UV-stabilized PE jacket.
- Designed for rooftop and antenna mast installation.
Key Features of the RG11 Cable :
- Low Signal Loss
- Excellent attenuation performance for lengthy cable lines.
- High Shielding Effectiveness
- Protects against electromagnetic interference.
- Long-Distance Transmission
- Ideal for runs that exceed 150 ft.
- High mechanical strength.
- Thick jacket and conductor to ensure longevity
- Stable Impedance
- Maintains a 75 ohm impedance throughout frequencies.
- Weather-resistant options are available.
- Ideal for outdoor and severe situations.

How to Assemble RG11 Cable in Antenna Configuration:
Tools Required:
- RG11 Cable Stripper
- Compression or crimp tools
- RG11-compatible connector (F-type or N-type).
- Cable cutter
Step-by-Step RG11 Antenna Cable Assembly :
Step 1: Cut the Cable
- Using a clean cable cutter, measure and cut the RG11 cable to the length of the antenna.
Step 2: Strip the Jacket
- Use an RG11 stripper to remove:
- Outer jacket measures around 12-15 mm.
- Fold back the braided shield.
- Expose the dielectric and central conductor.
Step 3: Prepare the Shield
- Fold the braid evenly across the outside jacket.
- Ensure the foil shield remains intact.
Step 4: Install the Connector
- Slide the RG11 connector on the cable.
- Push the dielectric firmly into the connector body.
- Ensure the middle conductor protrudes correctly.
Step 5: Crimp or Compress
- Use a suitable RG11 crimping/compression tool.
- Secure the connector tightly.
Step 6: Test the Assembly
- Check continuity.
- Ensure that there are no shorts between the center conductor and shield.
- Verify impedance if possible.
